“Normal” vs. Gifted children in admissions.
While I don't often work with gifted students, I'm always amazed by their incredible capabilities.
Every now and then, I'm approached by families with gifted children.
While I don't often work with gifted students, I'm always amazed by their incredible capabilities.
And I know some of the ambitious parents I work with would love for their children to reach those same heights.
But here's the thing...
Most kids are not gifted, and that’s good. Based on the conversations I’ve had with these parents, gifted children come with their own set of challenges.
The great thing is that every child is blessed with their own unique set of talents and passions.
And as parents, our job is to help them discover and nurture those strengths as early as possible:
Instead of pushing them to excel in areas they struggle with...
Instead of expecting them to be great at everything...
We need to zero in on their natural abilities and interests.
Because when we play to their strengths, that's when they truly come alive!
It's a lesson I've learned in my own life, too.
Recently, I made the decision to focus exclusively on creating the ultimate college admissions platform—the "College Admissions Academy."
To make this dream a reality, I had to make some tough choices and put other projects on hold.
But I know focusing on the academy is worth it because it aligns with my mission and my own unique strengths.
To me, that's the key.
Knowing which battles to pick, for ourselves and for our children.
If I’ve learned something after helping hundreds of students get into their dream colleges, it’s that when we embrace our kids' individuality, they can shine in their own unique way.
And who knows?
They might just change the world with their one-of-a-kind brilliance and talents.
