Early prep: 9th grade vs 1st grade.

What’s the difference?

"What's the best time to start thinking about college admissions for your child?"

This is a question I hear all the time from parents…

For most kids, 9th grade is the best time.

But believe it or not, some of my students are as young as 1st grade.

So what’s the difference?

The truth is, there's no one-size-fits-all answer.

It all depends on your goals and expectations for your child's education.

For my early starters, the goal is simply to ensure that every door of opportunity stays wide open for their children.

They know that getting the best education needs careful planning and preparation.

You see, younger kids might not get what it takes to set and achieve long-term goals.

So taking the initiative in making these important decisions protects our children in the long run.

It's disappointing when a junior student wants to go to a top college but doesn't have the right profile or track record.

And all because they made some early prep mistakes like:

  • Not preparing for the SAT with enough time.

  • Choosing the wrong academic track early on.

  • Missing early opportunities to enhance their profiles.

Ultimately, you’re giving your child more time to prepare, opening more opportunities, and preventing mistakes.

Now, I understand not every parent will want to start that early, and that's perfectly fine.

This is why I opened the College Admissions Academy for 9th and 10th-grade students.

A few weeks ago we welcomed our first cohort of founding memberswe will update you on their progress soon : )
